Welcome to the Scooter Vita Showroom! In this area of our website, we give you a brief history of the brands we carry, and give you some base prices as well as links to each manufacturer's homepage. If you have any questions that this website dosen't answer (If we could do it all online there'd be no need for a store!) then don't hesitate to give us a call our shoot us a quick e-mail. We do our best to respond quickly. If you like, you can also reach us by phone at (336)218-1181. We're open Monday through Saturday. Monday hours are 1pm to 6pm. Vespa The Vespa name is one that inspires awe and respect to just about everyone in the scootering community, and even many who don't own a scooter! Vespa's parent company, Piaggio, was actually founded in Geona Italy in 1884 by Rinald Piaggio. Rinald was a mere 20 years old when he began his business. At first, this business consisted of fitting luxury ships and things of like nature, but the company was soon undertaking rail carriages, luxury coaches, truck bodies, trains, and they were even manufacturing engines! During World War I, Piaggio began manufacture of airplanes, and seaplanes. The business continued to thrive through those dark times. World War II, however, left many of Piaggio's facilities badly wrecked or ruined -- Piaggio's plants were a sought after military target due to their manufacture of war machines. Under the wing of Enrico Piaggio (Rinald's Son), the company turned it's focus to the Italian People's transportation needs. The streets of Italy were in bad shape after the war. The roads were riddled with potholes that would soon see a 4 wheeled vehicle at a standstill. The design of the Vespa (By Corradino D'Ascanio) incorporated many features that are still sought after today. The original vespa was built in 1946 and had a uni-shell construction, made of high grade aircraft aluminum. The suspension is similar to an airplane's with it's anti-dive layout, and it makes for very easy tire changes. The Vespa was (and forever will be) a madly fuel efficient machine, and even today they are developing many firsts with scooters. We offer Vespa's entire line to you. Piaggio Piaggio is the parent company of the Vespa scooters. Piaggio wanted to keep the 'vespa' name to the classics, and thus branched out with the Piaggio branded scooters. The Piaggio boasts the incredibly superior craftsmanship that Italy has to offer, but puts a more sporty and modern twist on the design! The Piaggio Typhoon is one of the most highly sought after scooters in the United States. Aprilia Just at the smoke was settling at the end of World War II, Cavalier Beggio was beginning to develop his buisness in Noale, Italy. The factory that Cavalier founded was primarily for the manufacture of bicycles. In 1968, the direction of changed, and Ivano Beggio (Cavalier's Son) headed the development of Aprilia's first 50cc bike. In 1970, the Scarabeo cross bike became widely recognized. This Scarabeo was a remarkable milestone, and it was often raced in national competitions. Even today, the Scarabeo line of scooters and maxiscooters are placing milestones and achieving higher goals at each new production. Aprilia continues to strive as you read this very text! So far Aprilia has collected numerous World Championship titles, acquired Moto Guzzi (another fine motorcycle legacy), and has joined with the aformentioned Piaggio Group and presses ever forward with thier living legend!
